Proof·to·Pay

Is there an invoicing app that takes Venmo instead of credit cards?

Yes. Proof-to-Pay sends your customer a service record with a pay button that opens your own Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, or Cash App account. The payment goes directly from your customer to you — Proof-to-Pay never processes, holds, or takes a percentage of it, so there are no card processing fees.

Why this is unusual

Most invoicing and field service platforms make a substantial share of their revenue from payment processing — typically around 3% of every card transaction, on top of the monthly subscription. That's the business model, which is why those platforms route payments through their own processor rather than your Venmo.

On $8,000 of monthly work, roughly 3% is about $240 a month leaving your business on top of the software bill.

How the pay button works

You add your Venmo (or Zelle, PayPal, Cash App) handle once in settings. We verify it resolves to a real account and show you the account holder's name to confirm it's yours before it ever reaches a customer.

When you send a record, the pay button is pre-filled: it opens Venmo with the exact amount and a note naming the job and your business. Your customer confirms. The money lands in your account — the same account you already use.

Because we never touch the money, there is nothing to hold, delay, or skim. There's also no payout schedule: it arrives when your customer sends it.

The trade-offs, honestly

Venmo and Zelle are peer-to-peer rails. They're ideal for the $50–$800 residential jobs most small service businesses run on, and they settle instantly.

They're a poor fit for large commercial jobs and for property managers, who typically need to pay by card or check against an invoice. If that's most of your work, a platform with card processing is the better tool.

Zelle in particular has no shareable payment link — that's a Zelle limitation, not ours. For Zelle we show your phone or email with a one-tap copy button so the customer can paste it into their banking app.

Common questions

Do you take a percentage of my payments?

No. 0%. The pay button opens your own Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, or Cash App. The money goes from your customer straight to you — we can't hold it, delay it, or take a cut.

Does the amount fill in automatically?

Yes. The Venmo link is pre-filled with the exact amount and a note naming the job and your business. Your customer taps and confirms — no typing the number in by hand.

Can my customer pay by card?

Not today. Proof-to-Pay currently supports direct payment rails only — Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App. An optional card portal is on the roadmap; the direct rails will stay free.
